We specialise in providing pre-seed and seed investment rounds, typically between £50k-£1m. This is the critical stage when a start-up requires investment to truly begin its growth journey. Our typical investors don’t just support financially however – they’re a powerful combination of smart capital and hands-on support to propel companies to new frontiers of success.

Do you only invest in startups based in Liverpool?

While our primary focus is on the Liverpool City Region, we’re open to compelling investment opportunities from founders across the North-West.

What type of businesses do you invest in?

At Gateway Angels, we’re eager to connect with early-stage companies that have an innovative idea, a strong management team and business model and well defined route to market. We’re interested in businesses raising pre-seed and seed rounds, up to £1 million. We are open to SEIS and EIS qualifying opportunities across all sectors.

Raising funding is new to me, will you help me prepare?

We do not provide investment readiness services, there are already a number of organisations and programmes in the Liverpool City Region offering this. We would recommend The LCR Finance Hub, LYVA Labs, Baltic Ventures, Barclays Eagle Labs and Natwest Entrepreneur Hub.

What are the costs involved?

We currently do not charge fees.

Does Gateway Angels have its own investment fund?

No, Gateway Angels is a network of private individuals investing their own capital.
